Updated report from the UK-Innovation Research Centre

This is the first in a series of linked reports by the CIHE-UK~IRC Task Force on gaining the most value from the UK innovation system, and in particular its university research. It highlights strongly the need to sustain the competitiveness of UK R&D in terms of both quantity and quality, and also the variability in the relationship between the UK research base and business, as a function of sector and size of company. Furthermore, it shows clearly that the openness and quality of UK R&D to non-UK domiciled businesses is a major strength. It is most important that the conditions that attract those businesses, in particular the quality of university research and talent, is not undermined.
